The program is PERFORMANCED BASED in terms of allowing the instruction to be geared to all learning levels and speeds of retention in the classroom - therefore the adult educational process may be fully maximized.  The instructional design that BRENTLEY utilizes is a repetition modality:  The student is given the written material that s/he is expected to learn in the form of STUDENT PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES (SPO/S).

o SPO'S are presented on the latest state-of-the-art (POWERPOINT format) and discussed in lecture.

o SPO'S must be written in the student's notebook. The notebook is MANDATORY for certification, and is checked at least once a week for appropriate entries of the pertinent material(s).

o SPO'S are reviewed before new topics are introduced.

o SPO'S are measured, and evaluated, by daily, and weekly quizzes. o Students are given a practice final examination on all of the student performance objectives (spo's) prior to the student taking the state final examination.

The Purpose of the Course:

*Acquire new knowledge and training skills

*Prepare for proper job performance

*Improve safety and survival during critical events

*Standardize procedures to enhance safety, accountability, response time, and commitment to the community or work environment

*Build confidence with the new found knowledge and skills to enhance the profession in the 21st century.
